Making a difference

Ever look at someone and think, wow I want to be just like that person? Many of us have. Every day people come and go from our lives. Someone affects us every day, weather we know it or not. If we see someone do something good, hopefully it will inspire us to do something good. Athletes inspire many of us around the world. A big problem in today’s world is obesity in young children. I’m pretty sure when a lot of use was younger we were fat. Growing up I ate whatever I wanted. I was a fat child. I would say I was overweight. When I was younger I would go home eat something and turn on the tv. I would turn the TV on and see all these wonderful athletes even though I was an athlete myself I looked up to other athletes as if one day I would look and be as good as them. Many children look up to athletes. If they see an athletes do something, he/she then wants to do it. Professional sports organizations and their athletes are realizing that they could have a positive influence when it comes to getting kids to move off the couch and onto playgrounds and in organized physical education. A good example of this is, Kenny Anderson, he’s a retired NBA All-Star. Kenny Anderson now resides in Southern Florida with his wife and Children. After a 14 year career, he now spends his time as a husband, father dedicated to giving back to the community whenever possible. Looking to inspire children in today’s society, Anderson wanted children to become much healthier, more driven and educated. Kenny wanted to help inspire young children to achieve their maximum potential so they can become successful and productive members of society. A lot of people in the community know of Anderson for, wanted to make a difference in their lives. I think this is great, young children look up to athletes. If they see someone doing something then why will to. Anderson getting involved in child obesity programs is good. A young child would look up to and listen to them because they hoped one day to be just like that athlete.  Not only is it helping young children, but it is helping the athletes look. Even though Anderson was retired it will make others like him even more, and it will show that he was one of the athletes that mattered, and wouldn’t be just forgot. He showed a positive image that people will talk about, and will always say good things about. This not only influences young children but, the next generations as well. Hopefully people and children see that, and think to hopefully do something like this one day. Even if someone is not famous they can do something to impact another’s life. They can do something to help someone out, that will create a positive image for them self. Just because someone is not famous doesn’t mean they can’t influence the people around them. We are influenced everyday by our parents, teacher’s ext. Those people aren’t famous but, they still somehow find a way to influence us. Athletes are just regular people, just like us. They get paid for doing something they love. If we love our jobs we get are getting paid for something we love to. The difference is they are famous so more people know about what they do. So if they do something good, everyone knows about it. Just like if they do something bad, a lot of people know about it. Anderson reaching out to his community is expanding his fame. Even though he is retired he still care and that gets people’s attention, because a lot of people once retired don’t really do too much with their community. In my opinion Anderson gained a lot of respect, more than what he already had. It’s nice knowing theirs some people out there who care, and aren’t all about them self’s, because some athletes are like that. If they arnt getting paid for it then they won’t do it.
